The Certified Performance Specialist™
is a comprehensive educational training. All learning sessions
have a mandatory attendance policy with no exceptions. Applicants
must be accepted into the training by submitting the following
information:
- A brief, 1-page explanation why you wish to become a Certified Performance Specialist™ and how you intend to apply the credential in your specific department.
- Whether you are attending the training voluntarily or under department order.
- Whether you are the designated training officer for your
department or not. Trainers who work with public safety personnel
in particular departments or settings may attend the certification.
- Payment in full prior to the training, unless otherwise excused for last minute purchase orders/invoices.
Recommended But Not Required
- Experience training others in physical fitness.
- Some exposure to the academic portion physical fitness or
related experience (it is assumed that attendees have no formal
academic background in fitness prior to the certification)
- Experience with regular physical activity and a degree of
physical fitness. You are required, unless excused for physical
impairment, to participate in all hands-on learning sessions.
- Hold a major fitness certification from another organization, such as the NSCA, ACSM, NASM, NATA, or ACE.
- Experience with public speaking, with powerpoint, or in conducting trainings.
